First Look, Van Reede High School Conceptual Masterplan

Early concept design visuals from a new master planning project currently in the office.

We were approached at the end of 2023 to provide a phased high school expansion masterplan for an existing primary school brought on by the insufficient supply of high school places for learners in the area.

The expansion will happen on open, under-utilised land on the existing school grounds and look to respond to :

1.    The school’s particular needs and wants that match their vision for the high school

2.    The Department of Education’s planning requirements for High Schools

3.    The site particular context in terms of slope, weather, orientation, connection to existing infrastructure, etc

4.    Modern approaches to the design of educational environments - including passive

design, way-finding strategies, disability inclusive design and using building

arrangements to enhance both the internal and external learning and social environment.
